The Bandepalya police have cracked the murder case of notorious rowdy-sheeter Shabbir,who was hacked to death in Bandepalya under the limits of the Bandepalya Police Station.
Eleven accused have been arrested in connection with the case,and preparations are underway to invoke the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA) against them.
Addressing the media,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Electronic City Division)Narayan said the murder was the result of a long-standing dispute involving extortion and a civil property issue.
During investigation it was revealed that Shabbir was allegedly maintaining dominance in the area and was involved in collecting “hafta” from several traders, including scrap shop owners.
He had also allegedly set his sights on a property belonging to the sister of an accused named Sunny, located near a mosque in Bandepalya.
Further detailed probe said Shabbir had pressured Sunny to hand over the land and had threatened to erect a compound wall forcibly at the site.He had also allegedly issued repeated threats, leading to mounting resentment among Sunny and others.
Unable to tolerate the intimidation,Sunny and his associates allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate Shabbir. The murder was meticulously planned over a week at a garage.
On the day of the incident, the accused allegedly threw chilli powder into Shabbir’s eyes before hacking him to death with deadly weapons.After committing the crime, the accused fled the scene in an autorickshaw to K.R. Puram.
They later abandoned the weapons at a separate location and escaped by train to different places, including Mumbai,Rajasthan and Hyderabad.
Special police teams were formed,following which all 11 accused were tracked down and arrested from different states.
The officer confirmed that all the accused will be booked under the KCOCA Act,considering the organised nature of the crime.Further investigation is underway he added.
