A police constable attached to the RT Nagar Police Station has been arrested on charges of sexually harassing a first-year PUC student in Bengaluru.
The accused has been identified as Yamuna Naik,who was arrested by the Upparpet Police.A case has been registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
Senior officer told reporters that the incident occurred while the constable was on duty,having been deployed at Freedom Park.During this time,he allegedly sexually harassed a first-year PUC student.
Following a complaint,the Upparpet Police registered an FIR and launched an investigation.Based on preliminary findings,the police arrested the constable late on Saturday night.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the full sequence of events and to take appropriate departmental and legal action he added.
