A 45-year-old man was killed on the spot and his wife severely injured when a speeding truck knock down the moped they are riding on the Tumakuru–Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48) near Royal Gate on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Mohan Kumar S.K. from Gowdanahalli,a weaver was heading towards Nelamangala with Parvathamma riding pillion.
The accident occurred at around 1:45 PM,when the truck driven in rash and negligent manner knock down the moped from behind near the Fire Station junction.
Due to the impact,both riders off the vehicle,and came under the truck rear wheel reportedly ran over Mohan Kumar’s head,killing him instantly.
Parvathamma sustained injuries to both legs and was rushed to a near-by hospital for treatment.
The Nelamangala traffic Police have registered a case against the lorry driver charging him under death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving.He was arrested and the truck was seized for further investigation.
