The alert Banashankari traffic police who were on enforcement duty,busted a suspected inter city drug racket and intercepted a car smuggling 21.9 kilograms of Marijuana,88 grams of gold and,₹ 2.8 lakh cash and five mobile phones .
While the police pin down the driver of the car,two of his accomplices managed to flee.
The driver of the car identified as Nayeem Ahmed was arrested and handed over to their law and order counterparts who are now stepped up the probe to track down the accused who are on the ruun.
The incident occurred on Tuesday,near the Nayandahalli junction,Traffic Police officials identified as ASI,Raju and head constable Mahesh BM of Banashankari traffic who were routinely checking vehicles noticed the car with tinted glass approaching them.The police officials noticed the occupants of the car becoming nervous and started acting suspiciously .
Sensing something fishy,the police officials stopped the car.While two of the occupants got down and ran away , the driver was caught.
The police checked the car and found two bags in the backseat tightly sealed packets .
The car had the sticker ‘ARMY’ on its back glass, which according to the police to get “immunity “from the police.
Many people fake the logos to hoodwink the police including “press”on govt duty”and also using names of the government department,a senior officer, said .
“A case has been registered at the Girinagar police station.The driver is in our custody to ascertain the details of the smuggling network ,”Lokesh B Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said .
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh,Joint CP West,C Vamsi Krishna,DCP South,Lokesh B Jagalasar has appreciated the alert traffic cops as,ASI, Raju and Mahesh BM, of Banashankari traffic for their timely action in helping to bust inter-city drug racket a special reward will be given to whole team for their excellent work he added.
