West Division police on Thursday arrested 35-year-old rowdy and peddler involved in over 15 criminal cases and hoodwinking the police for the past eight years.
The accused Hameed and his brother Sadiq was arrested by a team,led by ACP,UD Krishna Kumar from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh where he was hiding along with his brother Sadiq,24.
Senior officer, said,last month Commissioner of police,Kamal Pant,made surprise rounds and visit to Jnanabharati police station limits and interacted with public and staff.
He visited Ullal upanagara of jnanabharathi police station He interacted with public about ganja peddling and rowdy menace if any.He even lnquired about Hameed and others of the area.
The residents complained to commissioner of police about the problems they are facing with this notorious rowdy and his associates in the area after hearing their grievances Pant ordered DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil to open a temporary outpost at Ullal to be headed by a PSI.He later visited police station and interacted with ACP,PI and staff.
Based on a series of complaints from the residents about the rowdy activities,the police swung into action and set up an outpost at the BBMP building in Ullal following which the gang members escaped to neighbouring states.
Sanjeev Patil,DCP, West division said,that Hameed was part of the notorious Ullal Karthik gang and peddling drugs after sourcing from the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
Hameed was main Peddler in the area we have information that he used to procure Ganja from outside Karnataka and stock it up in outside the city areas and then peddle it through various parts in the city.
For the last six months the team led by ACP,UD Krishna Kumar,had even travelled to various parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu to arrest this person.
Continuing the probe,the police tracked down Hameed and arrested him on thursday and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr.Sanjeev M Patil,ACP,UD Krishna Kumar,PIs,as,Laxman Nayak,Lohith,PSI,Sanganabasappa,ASI,Prakash, Crime staff,as,Munnikrishna,Shashidhar and Venugopal who were on manhunt for the notorious rowdy who was hoodwinking the police from past 8 years has been finally nabbed by the special team led by ACP UD Krishna Kumar after their immense efforts and good piece of investigation skill by the team landed the notorious rowdy and drug peddler in the police net and a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
