The Kalasipalya police arrested three people for asaulting a labourer for wearing a saffron shawl .

The accused Tabrez,30,from Nagawara,a mechanic, Imran Khan,35,from Banashankari,a radium cutting worker,and Ajeez Khan,47,from Tilaknagar,who worked in real estate have been charged with assault,provoking breach of peace and criminal intimidation for further investigation.

According to the police,the incident occurred on August 24 at 9:30 pm near the Royal Travels office,opposite the Kalasipalya BMTC Bus Stand in Bengaluru.

The FIR filed following a complaint by Harikrishna,who worked as a loading incharge at Royal Travels,noted that he and his workers were doing their jobs when the suspects arrived at the scene and confronted Shilendra Kumar,one of the workers.

“They pushed Shilendra Kumar after asking him why he wore a saffron towel.When I intervened,they abused me and beat me up and tore my shirt.

They also asked why my workers were allowed to wear saffron towels and forced him to remove,”Harikrishna alleged .

The Kalasipalya police initially filed a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) and considering the gravity of the incident , registered the FIR on August 25 after receiving permission from a local court.
