Instructions Issued for Swift Pothole Repairs in the City: Maheshwar Rao

“Training Workshop Organized for Engineers to Address Pothole Repairs”.

Bengaluru:BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to undertake pothole-filling work across the city swiftly.

Addressing a training workshop held today at Shree Puttanna Chetty Town Hall for all BBMP engineers,he emphasized the need to effectively address potholes across Bengaluru.

He stated that pothole-filling work is being carried out regularly. However, due to ongoing rains,it has been challenging to fill them effectively.

In light of this,he instructed the use of cold mix and Ecofix materials during rainy conditions for pothole repairs.

Training has already been provided on the standard methods for pothole filling.He instructed that each zone should now implement planned actions to repair potholes swiftly.Where necessary, jet patcher machines must be used for efficient repairs.

He stressed that quality must be maintained in all pothole repair work and that it should strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).The Quality Control Division has been directed to monitor and verify the quality of the work.

*Inspection of Pothole Repair Work:

Zonal Commissioners,Joint Commissioners,and Chief Engineers must visit pothole repair sites for on-ground inspections.He also instructed that the work should be continuously monitored to ensure progress and accountability.

*Weekly Work Schedule to Be Prepared:

To ensure effective sanitation across the city,each zone must prepare a weekly schedule for cleanliness drives at the ward level.

As per this schedule,early morning cleaning of footpaths, garbage,and construction debris must be carried out using silt removal equipment and tractors.

*Hands-On SOP Training:

A practical demonstration was conducted during the workshop to train engineers on the proper Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for pothole repairs.

The demonstration covered all key steps:cutting all four corners of the pothole,cleaning dust and debris, spraying,applying tack coat,filling with bitumen,and completing the process with rolling.

Present at the workshop were Special Commissioner, (Projects) Karigowda,Zonal Commissioners,Satish and Ramesh,Joint Commissioners Sangappa and Dakshayini,along with all Chief Engineers,Executive Engineers, and Assistant Executive Engineers from across all zones.
