The Madanayakanahalli police have arrested a 30-year-old cab driver for allegedly killing his wife for dowry.
The accused Abhishek,resident of Dasanapura has been booked under section 80 (dowry death),85 (cruelty against women by her husband or his relatives) and 103 (murder) along with the various section of dowry prohibition act,for further investigations.
According to the complaint filed by,Chandra,father of the victim,Spandana,24 was married to Abhishek in February last year while she was pursuing her post graduation.
It was a love marriage the duo married in a sub registrar office without the approval of her parents .
Chandra in his complaint alleged that the accused and his mother started harassing her for dowry and many a times Chandra went to convince them.
He even reportedly paid Rs.5 lakh to Chandra as per his demand.
However the accused continue to harass her physically and mentally following which she messaged her sister on her mobile blaming Abhishek,his mother Baby Lakshmmma,his family members and even the colleagues of Abhishek .
Chandra in his complaint alleged that Spandana was tortured and assaulted to death and demanded a detailed probe .
