averi (Shiggaon):Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai wanted the people of Shiggaon to live with utmost happiness,peace,and tranquility,and that the entire world must come and witness how peacefully the people here live.
He was speaking at the 32nd Sharana Samskruti Utsava 2025 and the Punyaraadhane (memorial ceremony) of Parampujya Shri Sangana Basava Mahaswamiji and Sri Basavalinga Swamiji,held at Shri Virakta Math in Shiggaon town,Haveri district on Saturday.
Math’s legacy,teachings :
Bommai said Shiggaon’s Virakta Math has its own unique history,tradition,and miracles.A miracle is something that seems impossible to people but is made possible in a simple way.Identifying the power within creation is a miracle.
There is immense energy in creation, but not everyone can recognize it.However, through a Guru,one can perceive it.”No one is born as a scholar; everything is learned through experience.
A mother is the first teacher,a Swamiji who instills values is the second teacher, and a Guru who imparts knowledge is the most profound teacher.
Through knowledge,one gains literacy,from literacy comes literature,from literature comes science,and from science comes technology.
Now, we have artificial intelligence,which is essentially something unnatural.After experiencing all this,one ultimately realizes that knowledge itself is the greatest Guru.
To reach this state, a person must be highly aware.Every small incident in life teaches us a lesson, and that lesson is experience.That is why it is said through experience, one attains wisdom”.
Life and spiritual growth
The MP said Birth and death are not in their hands.They can build a tomb, but going inside it is not in their control.
However,life is in their hands.They often worry about what they don’t have rather than focusing on how to make the best use of what they do have.Such contemplations define the richness of this Mutt.
The wealth of a Mutt is not in its assets but in the peace it provides.A Mutt is considered truly rich when people experience tranquility there.
The peaceful environment here is the result of the penance of great Gurus.Shri Sangana Basava Mahaswamiji preserved the traditions of the past and upheld this atmosphere.He blended with people like water and was accessible to all.
The former CM noted that in this mutt, there is no barrier between devotees and the Guru.Hence,the Gurus understand both the happiness and hardships of the people. In times of difficulty,they know how to bless and guide individuals.
They impart knowledge,but it is up to them to receive it. To do so, sincerity and devotion are essential.True devotion is intense love, unconditional love.
Even sitting quietly in front of the divine for five minutes brings immense peace.One must surrender to the Guru and dissolve into his teachings.
Only then can one receive blessings, and he consider myself fortunate to have received such blessings.

Bommai wished the Shiggaon Taluk continue to grow and reach greater heights.Let Shiggaon become a town where people live in utmost happiness,peace, and tranquility.
Let the world witness how peacefully the people here live.May this sacred Mutt, with its divine heritage, gain worldwide recognition.
The Swamijis organize several programs,ensuring that Dharma takes deep roots.Every year, during the month of Shravan,the Mutt conducts a special tree-planting event called Sasya Shravan to symbolize the deep rooting of Dharma and justice. May such efforts continue to flourish.
