Maralukunte Ram Anjinappa,President of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene’s Chikkaballapur taluk unit, allegedly ended his life at the farmers’ organisation’s office in the city on Tuesday.
His body was found hanging from a ceiling fan at the Raitha Sangha office located above the Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society (dairy) in the Vapasandra locality of Chikkaballapur.
Police reportedly recovered a death note from the spot. In the note,Ram Anjinappa is said to have stated that he took the extreme step after becoming mentally distressed over the non-payment of money due from the sale of his land.
According to the details available,Ram Anjinappa had sold 35 guntas of land owned by him to a person identified as Ravindra Reddy for a total consideration of Rs 77 lakh.
Police have taken up an investigation and are verifying the contents of the death note and the circumstances surrounding the alleged suicide.
