The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has seized 1,350 electronic video projectors worth around Rs.5 crore for allegedly misusing the BIS Registration Mark during a search operation at a firm in Yelahanka New Town on September 9.
The BIS Bengaluru Branch Office conducted the operation at Zeblaze Solutions LLP, located at Yelahanka New Town,based on inputs regarding misuse of the BIS Standard/Registration Mark.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Vinodini Kishore, Scientist-E/Director,along with Scientist-D Vijay Kumar and other BIS officials.
According to BIS,the seized projectors were marketed under the brand name WZATCO and were found to be bearing the BIS Registration Mark allegedly in violation of provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.
BIS said legal proceedings would be initiated against the concerned parties based on the findings of the search and seizure operation.
The standards body said it was continuing enforcement drives to prevent misuse of BIS certification and Registration Marks and to protect consumers from deceptive practices and non-conforming products.
BIS has advised consumers to verify the authenticity and certification status of products through the BIS Care App and report suspicious or non-standard products to the authorities.
