Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday cautioned officials that delays in administrative work create scope for corruption and urged them to ensure swift disposal of files.
Speaking after inaugurating the renovated building and additional rooms of the Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) Officers’Association on Infantry Road in Bengaluru,the Chief Minister stressed the need to keep middlemen out of government offices.
“Middlemen exist everywhere,but officials must ensure they are not allowed inside offices,”he said.
Act Promptly,Avoid Delays:
The Chief Minister emphasized that unnecessary delay in processing files should be avoided at all costs.“Delay leads to corruption.Officers must act promptly and efficiently,” he said.

Uphold Integrity and Public Service:
Urging KAS officers to discharge their duties with honesty and commitment,Siddaramaiah noted the association’s rich history and recalled the contributions of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar to the development of the erstwhile Mysore State.
He said administrators must work in coordination with the legislature in a democratic system to safeguard public interest.
Be Aware and Responsive:
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of legal knowledge, general awareness, and social sensitivity among officials.
“In an unequal society,officers must respond to the needs of weaker sections,”he said.
He also encouraged officials to engage with people, especially in rural areas, understand their grievances, and resolve them effectively.
Direct Benefit Transfer Reduces Middlemen:
Pointing out that government guarantee schemes have reduced the role of intermediaries,he said benefits are now directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

On service matters,Siddaramaiah assured that promotions for KAS officers would be expedited.He said efforts are underway and reiterated that 33% of officers would be promoted as CEOs.
