-BWSSB Presents Certificate and Expresses Gratitude to DCM DK Shivakumar
Adding a golden feather to its cap,under the visionary leadership of the Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar,,the Bangalore Water Supply & Sewage Board (BWSSB) has achieved a historic milestone.
BWSSB has officially become the first water utility board in India to be awarded the internationally recognized ISO 50001:2018 certification.
The esteemed certification,officially issued on April 14, 2026,by Bureau Veritas, formally recognizes the board’s outstanding energy management systems. Specifically, this new certificate honours BWSSB for maintaining its massive Bulk Water Supply Pumping Stations at an international level across all three critical locations: TK Halli, Harohalli and Tataguni.
Furthermore,the certification encompasses the vital supporting functions at the Head Office in Cauvery Bhavan and the overall continuous supply of water to the Greater Bengaluru Authority Limits(GBA Limits).
Today,led by BWSSB Chairman Dr.Ram Prasath Manohar,senior officials of the water board met the Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar,whose leadership was instrumental in securing this international recognition. 
The delegation officially handed over the certificate to the Deputy Chief Minister and expressed their profound gratitude for his continuous support and guidance.
Commending this international recognition,the Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated,”Securing the prestigious ISO 50001:2018 certification is a monumental achievement that reflects our government’s unwavering commitment to building a world-class, sustainable water infrastructure for Bengaluru.
By Managing systems across these massive bulk water supply pumping stations, BWSSB is not only setting a remarkable national benchmark but also ensuring that we deliver highly efficient,reliable,and uninterrupted water services to millions of citizens.
This milestone aggressively accelerates our broader vision of transforming Brand Bengaluru into a future-ready,climate-resilient global metropolis.”

This new global recognition perfectly complements the board’s recent national triumphs.Just last year, BWSSB made national headlines by becoming the first water board in India to receive the prestigious Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS)certification for its piped drinking water supply management system.
Following a rigorous six-month evaluation by BIS,this national accolade,coupled with the new international ISO 50001:2018 certification,highlights the rapid institutional transformation and the uncompromising quality of service being delivered to the citizens of Bengaluru.
