Senior Citizen duped in antique coin & currency note sale Scam via Facebook page promising high returns and made away with Rs.6.39 Lakhs

A 67-year-old resident of Ejipura in Viveknagar has allegedly been cheated of Rs.6.39 lakh by unidentified fraudsters who lured him through a fake Facebook page promising high returns on the sale of antique coins and currency notes .

The complainant,stated that on April 6,2026,while browsing Facebook, he came across a page under the name “Rahul Kumar Jindal”,which advertised lucrative offers for purchasing old coins at high prices.

After noticing the advertisement,Nayak contacted the numbers listed on the page and shared photographs of old coins in his possession.

The accused then assured him that the coins would fetch and sealed the deal for Rs.1.70 crore.

Gaining his trust,the accused later asked him to pay various charges, including GST and income tax (TDS), to process the transaction.

Believing their claims,Nayak transferred money through RTGS, NEFT,and UPI between April 6 and April 7.

According to the complaint,he transferred a total of Rs. 6,39,000 in multiple transactions.After receiving the money,the accused neither returned the amount nor paid the promised profit,leading the victim to realize he had been cheated.

A complaint was lodged on April 8, 2026,at the concerned police station.Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to trace the accused and recover the money through the money trail .

The police advised people not to fall preay for high returns or lucratives deals from unknown online .
