A bomb threat email sent to the Customer Engagement Centre of Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) created panic among airport authorities,triggering an immediate security response.
According to a complaint filed at the police station,the incident occurred on April 5 at around 11:14 am,when staff at the BIAL Customer Engagement Center received a suspicious email from the ID seema_kunjan@outlook.com.
The email was sent to official airport addresses ( including Appellateauthority@bialairport.com and customer.service@carebyblr.com.)
The email, reportedly written in Tamil,claimed that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) had been planted inside the airport premises and warned of blasts within a short span of time.
It also contained threatening language and references to airport staff and security personnel,causing alarm among officials.
The sender of the mail id identified as Seema Kunjan claiming to be part of the muslim group from Coimbatore and decided to take revenge against the DMK led Tamil Nadu government for betraying them.
Despite our uncondtional support to the ruling TN government,the muslims have been arrested under UAPA act and government is not helping them,hence as evenge they are executing the blast.
Following the threat,airport authorities immediately initiated emergency protocols.A thorough security check was conducted across the airport premises with the assistance of CISF personnel, bomb disposal squads, and other security agencies.
After an extensive search operation,no suspicious objects or explosives were found,and the threat was declared a hoax.
Subsequently,a formal complaint was lodged on Tuesday and a case has been registered against the unidentified accused for issuing a false bomb threat.
Police are currently tracing the origin of the email ID used to send the message.
