The city police have announced elaborate traffic restrictions and diversions in view of the annual Sri Dharmaraya Swamy Temple Karaga Festival to be held in Bengaluru from midnight of April 1 to the morning of April 2.
With a large number of devotees expected to take part in the procession originating from Sri Dharmaraya Swamy Temple at Thigalarapete,police said restrictions have been imposed to ensure smooth vehicular movement along key routes.
Key Traffic Restrictions (April 1):
Movement of all vehicles will be prohibited from City Market Circle to Mysore Bank Circle via Avenue Road during the procession.
Alternative Routes:
Vehicles can use SJP Road–Town Hall–Kempegowda Road as the main diversion corridor while the Karaga procession is underway.
When the procession enters Avenue Road,vehicles from A.S.Char Road towards City Market will be diverted via Mysore Road,Briand Circle and Rayan Circle.
Vehicles from Mysore Road will be rerouted through Briand Circle, Rayan Circle, Medical College Circle,Prof. Shivashankar Circle and JC Road.
Traffic towards City Market from Medical College Circle will also be diverted via JC Road.
Additional Diversions:
Vehicles from BVK Iyengar Road towards Mysore Road will be halted at Chickpet Circle until the procession clears Police Road.
Traffic on Cottonpet Main Road will be diverted via Shantala Circle,Devaraj Urs Circle (Khode Circle),Vatal Nagaraj Road,Mysore Deviation Road,Binnymill Road and Mysore Road.
Vehicles approaching Cottonpet from Mill Road Junction will be diverted via Dr.T.C.M. Royan Road.
Restrictions Near Balepet and Kilar Road
When the procession moves from Kashi Vishwanath Temple towards Subedar Chatram Road:
Vehicles from Mysore Bank Circle towards Kempegowda Road will be stopped temporarily.
Traffic from Anand Rao Circle and Sangam circle will be diverted via Y.Ramachandra Road.
Vehicles from Sagar Junction towards BVK Iyengar Road will be rerouted via Kempegowda Road and LTP Road.
Traffic Plan for April 2
Chariot Parking (Till 4 PM):
Due to parking on Avenue Road and Police Road,traffic will be restricted between City Market Circle and Mysore Bank Circle from 9 PM on April 1 to 7 PM on April 2.
Motorists can use SJP Road–Town Hall–Kempegowda Road.
Chariot Movement (After 4 PM):
As chariots move from Market Circle via Police Road and Cottonpet Main Road towards Shantala Circle, traffic towards Cottonpet will be temporarily restricted.
Vehicles will be diverted via Devaraj Urs Circle, Vatal Nagaraj Road,Mysore Deviation Road and Binnymill Road.
Traffic from Mill Road Junction will again be diverted via Dr.T.C.M.Royan Road.
Police have appealed to the public to cooperate and plan their travel in advance to avoid inconvenience.
