A 23-year-old juice shop worker from Assam was allegedly abducted in an autorickshaw by a group of men who forced him to delete a video from his mobile phone before releasing him in East Bengaluru.Police have arrested two of the accused in connection with the incident.
The victim has been identified as Shabir alias Md Sadir Kha(23),a native of Assam working at a juice shop in TC Palya in KR Puram.
According to police,the incident occurred around 11.15 pm when Sadir Kha was near a friend’s house in Laxmisagar Layout.A group of men allegedly arrived in an autorickshaw and forcibly took him away.
The accused reportedly took him towards the Ramamurthy Nagar area, threatened him and forced him to delete a video from his mobile phone. He was later released around 2.30 am, police said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had earlier recorded a video of one of the accused,Sajid, with a woman.The accused allegedly abducted him to force him to delete the video.
Based on a complaint filed by Faizu (22),a security guard residing in Laxmisagar Layout and also a native of Assam,police registered a case.
Police have arrested Sajid (23),a Blinkit delivery worker from TC Palya, and Subramani (19), a bakery worker from the same area.
The other accused have been identified as Winset (21), an autorickshaw driver, and two others named Chintu and another associate.In total, five persons were involved in the crime, police said.
A case has been registered under Section 140 ( kidnapping or abducting a person for murder, ransom, or severe harm) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused.
