Even before the recent ATM robbery case involving former CMS company staff faded from public memory, another attempt to burgle a bank ATM has been reported in Bengaluru this time in Indiranagar.
The Indiranagar police have arrested a 23-year-old Nepal native,identified as Rajendra Singh,for allegedly attempting to break into an ATM kiosk.
Senior officer told reporters that the accused targeted an ATM of Bank of Baroda located on Double Road in Indiranagar around midnight on February 10.
He allegedly shut the ATM shutter and attempted to break open the machine using a cutting machine.
In a bid to avoid identification,the accused reportedly covered the CCTV cameras inside the kiosk using cloth and tape before attempting the burglary.
However,he failed to break open the ATM and fled the spot without stealing any cash.
Following an investigation,the Indiranagar police traced and arrested the accused.
During interrogation,Rajendra Singh told police that he was working in the kitchen of Nagarjuna Hotel in the city.
A case had been registered at the Indiranagar Police Station,and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
