Kunigal MLA,H.D.Ranganath has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urging the State Government to announce a special allowance and confer special status for women who marry men engaged in agriculture and residing in villages.

In a letter dated February 18, 2026,the MLA stated that Kunigal Assembly constituency is predominantly rural, with agriculture being the primary occupation.A large number of young men in villages depend on farming for their livelihood.

However,he pointed out that many women are reluctant to marry men who continue to live in villages and pursue agriculture.

As a result, several rural youth remain unmarried even after crossing the age of 30, facing social and personal hardships.

In this backdrop, the legislator has requested the Chief Minister to consider announcing a special financial incentive and recognition for women who choose to marry agriculturists residing in rural areas during the upcoming Assembly session.

The proposal,if considered,is aimed at addressing social challenges in rural constituencies and encouraging support for the agricultural community.
