State to Examine Demand for Tribal University:CM Siddaramaiah

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said the State government would examine the demand for the establishment of a Tribal University in Karnataka and take a decision after due consideration.

Speaking to mediapersons at the helipad of the Sri Maharshi Valmiki Gurupeetha premises here,the Chief Minister said there has been a longstanding demand for a separate university for tribal communities, which the government would look into.

No Role of State Govt in Metro Fare Hike:

Responding to questions on the recent hike in Bengaluru Metro fares,Siddaramaiah said the fare fixation is done by the Metro chairman appointed by the Central government and that the State government has no role in it.

When asked about reports of Deputy Chief Minister DK. Shivakumar visiting Delhi to discuss the issue,the Chief Minister said the media should seek clarification from him directly.

PM Yielding to US Pressure:

Commenting on the agreement between India and the United States,Siddaramaiah alleged that the deal would adversely affect farmers.He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of succumbing to pressure from the United States.

Two Ministerial Berths to Be Considered During Cabinet Expansion:

On demands for representation to the Valmiki community in the Cabinet,the Chief Minister clarified that no minister had been removed, but resignations were tendered due to unavoidable circumstances.

He said the issue of two vacant ministerial posts would be considered during the next Cabinet expansion.

Reports of SS Mallikarjun’s Resignation ‘Untrue’
Dismissing reports that Minister S.S.Mallikarjun had submitted his resignation,Siddaramaiah said the claims were far from the truth.

Budget Date to Be Announced Soon:

The Chief Minister said preparations for the State Budget were underway and that the date for its presentation would be announced shortly.
