24 Categories of Nominations Announced for GIFA 2025
GIFA – Gujarati Iconic Film Awards, a prestigious initiative that showcases the talent, creativity, and cultural heritage of the Gujarati film industry on a global platform, has entered its 10th year and officially announced the nominations for a total of 24 categories for the year 2025, marking the grand celebration of its ‘Golden Decade’.
This special announcement event was held on 6th February at AMA, Ahmedabad in the esteemed presence of GIFA founders Hetal Thakkar and Arvind Vegda, along with eminent and experienced jury members from the Gujarati film industry including Mr. Mihir Bhuta, Mr. Vinod Ganatra, Mr. Srinivas Patro, Mr. Bipin Bapodra, Ms. Sheetal Shah, Mr. Jignesh Patel, Mr. Burzin Unwalla, and Mr. Rakesh Pujara. Celebrating a decade-long journey of uninterrupted success, the event reflected GIFA’s achievements, credibility, and its significant contribution to the film industry.
As part of this Golden Decade, from 86 films released in 2025, the best works and talents were shortlisted from 72 participating Gujarati films and nominated across 24 categories. These include Best Film, Direction, Actor–Actress, Supporting Roles, Music, Lyrics, Background Score, and various technical categories. The selection in each category has been carried out through a completely transparent, merit-based, and unbiased evaluation process.
On this occasion, the jury members stated that keeping in mind GIFA’s decade-long experience and reputation, this year’s selection process was conducted with even stricter and more professional standards to ensure that truly deserving talent receives rightful recognition.
Addressing the gathering, Hetal Thakkar said:
“Completing ten years of GIFA is not just a milestone, but a celebration of the successful journey of Gujarati cinema’s growth and its global recognition. In this Golden Decade, we are not only celebrating past achievements but also defining a new direction for the future.”
Arvind Vegda added:
“Initiatives like GIFA, which celebrate Gujarati cinema, music, and culture together, serve as an inspiration for future generations. This Golden Decade celebration is a matter of pride for the entire industry.”
With the announcement of nominations for GIFA – Gujarati Iconic Film Awards 2025 and the beginning of the Golden Decade celebrations, a wave of enthusiasm, pride, and renewed energy has spread across the Gujarati film industry.
