Tumakuru Rural PSI caught red handed by Lokayukta police while accepting Rs.40000 bribe

The Karnataka Lokayukta Police (KLA),Tumakuru,on Saturday successfully trapped a police sub-inspector for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000 in connection with the release of a seized car.

Senior lokayukta official said the trap was laid by the Tumakuru KLA Police Station under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, KLA,Tumakuru.

The case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The complainant,Nagesh S K,a resident of Nagadevanahalli,Bengaluru,had approached the Lokayukta police alleging that the accused officer demanded a bribe of Rs.5 lakh for releasing a car to its rightful owner.

The accused government official (AGO) has been identified as Chetan Kumar S S,Police Sub-Inspector, Tumakuru Rural Police Station.

During the trap operation,the accused allegedly accepted Rs.40,000 as bribe through an intermediary(a public person),following which Lokayukta officials caught him red-handed.

The trap operation was led by Manjunath,Deputy Superintendent of Police,and assisted by DySP Santhosh,PI Raju,PI Suresh,PI Mohammed Saleem,and other staff of the Tumakuru Lokayukta unit.

The accused has been taken into custody,and further investigation is in progress,officials said.
