SIT formed by Karnataka govt to probe Confident Group Chairman C.J.Roy suicide case

A day after the tragic death of confident group chairman CJ Roy death,Home minister G.Parameshwara on Saturday said that an SIT has been formed to probe the case in detail.

C.J.Roy,Founder and Chairman of the Confident Group and Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic,who was found dead at the company’s office premises on Hosur Road on January 30, 2026.

An Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered at the Ashok Nagar Police Station in connection with the incident.

In order to ensure a comprehensive and impartial investigation,Commissioner of Police,Bengaluru City, Seemant Kumar Singh,IPS,ordered the transfer of the case to a specially constituted SIT.

While the MD of the company filed a complaint that Roy was dead with a wound on his chest while sitting at the chamber while a team of officials from the IT department were waiting for him.

The SIT will be headed by Joint Commissioner of Police (West Zone) C.Vamshi Krishna, IPS.Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division)Lokesh Jagalasar,IPS,has been appointed as the Investigating Officer.

Additionally,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) Akshay M Hakay,IPS,along with other senior officers drawn from various divisions and specialised units,will be members of the team as,Sudhir,ACP Halasurgate Sub-Division,Ramachandra,ACP,CCRB,Ravi KB, Inspector,Ashoknagar Police Station.

The SIT has been granted the authority to induct additional officers and deploy necessary resources as required for the investigation.

All concerned police officers have been directed to extend full cooperation to ensure a lawful,prompt and effective probe.

Police officials stated that all aspects of the case will be thoroughly examined,and further information will be shared with the public in the coming days.

Doctors who performed the post mortem confirmed that the death was due to bullet injury on his right side of the chest the bullet pieces the rib case and lodged in the back side of the body.There were no exit wound but he said .

Brother of Roy also filed a complaint accusing IT harassment could’ve led to the death,the police are considered the complaint and in most probability filing a case against them charging them under abetment.

The SIT is also gearing up for to question the IT officials who were present when Roy shot himself to death .
