Kannada film actor Mayur Patel booked for drunken driving after chain accident on old airport road

Sandalwood actor Mayur Patel was booked for drunken driving and negligent driving after he allegedly caused a late-night chain accident on old Airport Road near the Command Hospital signal in Bengaluru.

The incident occurred at around 10 pm on Wednesday when Patel,who was driving his Toyota Fortuner, allegedly rammed into a car that was halted at a traffic signal from behind.

The impact triggered a chain collision involving four vehicles.

Senior officer told reporters that,two cars were damaged in the accident.Patel was reportedly driving the car himself and was overspeeding and driving rashly at the time of the incident.

Passers by alerted the police control room,following which Halasuru Traffic Police rushed to the spot and took Patel to the police station.

During the drink-and-drive test,the result was found to be positive,confirming that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Based on a complaint lodged by car owner Srinivas, police registered an FIR against Patel at the Halasuru Traffic Police Station under BNS Section 281(rash and negligent driving)and Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act (drunken driving).

Police also seized the Fortuner involved in the accident and found that the vehicle did not have valid insurance at the time of the incident.Further investigation is underway.

Srinivas,one of the complainant said that he had bought the cab few days ago after pawning the jewels of his wife and working as cab driver.He had not even paid the first EMI and rued that he lost many days of employment due to the repair works.
