Inter-state car thief including car dealer arrested by Govindapura police, recovered 9 cars and two wheeler worth Rs.2.31 Crore

The Govindapura police have arrested two persons, including one accused from outside Karnataka,in connection with a car theft racket,and recovered nine cars and one two-wheeler worth Rs.2.31 Crore.

The case came to light following a complaint lodged at the Govindapura police station on January 4,by a resident of K.G. Halli.

The complainant stated that his two-wheeler was stolen after he had parked it near 10th Cross within the police station limits.

Based on the complaint,a case was registered and police launched an investigation.

Acting on credible information,police traced and arrested Syed Nizam,37,a car dealer from Frazer town on January 5, 2026,near Indira Canteen limits,along with the stolen two-wheeler.

During interrogation,the accused confessed to his involvement in vehicle thefts and revealed that he used to steal cars and sell them with the help of an associate based in Delhi.

The accused was produced before a court and remanded to 19 days of police custody.

Sustained interrogation led police to identify and trace the second accused Mohammed Muzaffar, 26,a Delhi-based associate,who was arrested on January 14,in Hyderabad,Telangana.

Further investigation led to the recovery of nine stolen cars parked at various locations,including:HBR Layout, Ravindra Garden and in adjacent vacant plots near residential layouts.

The police seized Nine cars and a two-wheeler total value of the recovered vehicles is estimated at Rs.2.3 crore.

The accused confessed that they used to steal high end cars from Delhi drive to Bengaluru and sell them in Hydrabad with forged documents .

Police said the accused were involved in stealing vehicles from Bengaluru and disposing of them through inter-State networks.Further investigation is underway to trace additional links in the racket said Commissioner of Police Seemant Kumar Singh.
