City Based IT Company ( Primetrace Technologies) Reports Unauthorized SMS API Usage

A city based IT company,Primetrace Technologies Pvt Ltd has reported a security breach involving its SMS API (Application Programming Interface),leading to unauthorized transmission of SMS messages.

According to company officials,between 2nd and 4th March 2025,the SMS API was misused by unknown individuals,resulting in illicit message traffic.

The company detected the irregular activity and promptly contacted Tata Communications,the SMS service provider,on 5th March 2025.Tata Communications confirmed that the misuse did not originate from the company’s authorized users.

Further investigation revealed a security compromise in the company’s telecom/SMS platform on 2nd April 2025, where unauthorized access to the API allowed external parties to send international SMS messages illegally.

Primetrace Technologies reported financial losses due to this breach.

Company sources also noted that similar unauthorized attempts were detected between 14th and 17th April 2023,which were temporarily blocked to prevent misuse.

Officials emphasized that these incidents point to organized and deliberate cyber exploitation of the company’s communication platform.

Authorities have been alerted,and Primetrace Technologies is cooperating fully with law enforcement to trace the perpetrators and secure its systems against further breaches.
