Bengaluru City Police Commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh on Friday addressing reporters said that although the city has witnessed a sharp increase in population and vehicle numbers,traffic police personnel are working efficiently to ensure smooth and uninterrupted movement of vehicles.
He said traffic personnel have been instructed to focus mainly on violation cases while ensuring that vehicle movement is not hindered.
“
Vehicles should continue to move without unnecessary stoppages.Especially during morning and evening peak hours,free flow of traffic must be ensured,”the Commissioner said.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the city,Singh said Bengaluru is undergoing rapid development,including Metro construction and other infrastructure works, which has contributed to congestion.
“Development activities are in progress across the city, and vehicle density has increased significantly,”he noted.
The Commissioner stressed the need for citizens to make greater use of public transportation to ease congestion on city roads.Public transport usage must be increased to reduce pressure on roads,he said.
On a recent traffic survey,Singh said he has not gone through the survey details completely but added that the police department is well aware of the ground realities.
“Our Traffic Management Centre is highly advanced.We will examine the survey findings and consider its aspects,”he said.
He also acknowledged that travel time within Bengaluru has increased due to rising traffic volume and ongoing development works.
