Committee formed under GBA Commissioner to inspect Chinnaswamy Stadium

Home Minister,Dr.G.Parameshwara on Monday said a committee has been constituted under the leadership of the GBA Commissioner to examine the feasibility of conducting cricket matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Minister held a meeting with office-bearers of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and senior police officials at the Vidhana Soudha sub-committee hall to review arrangements for hosting cricket matches at the stadium.He later briefed the media.

The KSCA has sought permission to conduct a Vijay Hazare Trophy match on December 24,stating that the match would be held without allowing public spectators.

In view of the safety of players and other stakeholders, the government has decided to constitute a committee to inspect the stadium and assess preparedness,the Minister said.

The committee,headed by the GBA Commissioner and comprising the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, officials from the Public Works Department,Fire and Emergency Services,and the Health Department, will visit the Chinnaswamy Stadium at 3 pm on Monday and submit a report to the government.

Based on the committee’s findings,the government will take a final decision on granting permission for the match,Parameshwara said.

The Minister added that the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner had earlier issued a letter outlining 17 safety-related conditions that need to be complied with.

The committee will verify the extent of compliance and submit its report to the government by 5 pm on Monday.

He noted that the KSCA has recently constituted a new managing committee and has assured the government that all required safety measures will be completed.

The meeting was attended by KSCA president, Venkatesh Prasad,Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Tushar Girinath,Director General of Police Dr.M A Saleem,Home Secretary,K V Sharath Chandra,Bengaluru City Police Commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh,ADGP, R Hithendra,and other KSCA office-bearers.
