Woman Attempts Suicide by Jumping from Hotel in Whitefield

A young woman sustained serious injuries after allegedly attempting suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of a private hotel in Whitefield, police said on Monday.

According to Whitefield Division Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Parashuram,the police received a call to the emergency number 112 reporting loud noise at the C-Esta Hotel.

Acting on the alert,Hoysala patrol staff rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary inspection.

During the check,police found eight persons inside a single room on the fourth floor.Officers gathered information from those present and later brought two youths from the fourth floor down to the reception area for questioning.

At that time,the woman allegedly jumped from the fourth floor,resulting in serious injuries.She was immediately shifted for medical treatment.

The woman’s father later filed a complaint at the HAL police station,alleging lapses by the private hotel. Police have since questioned the woman’s friends,hotel staff and police personnel involved in the incident.Body-worn camera footage of the police personnel has also been examined, officials said.

Responding to allegations that police demanded money, DCP Parashuram stated that the matter would be verified if supporting evidence is provided.

It was also found that the hotel had not obtained mandatory permission from the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). The police have accordingly directed the GBA to initiate action against the hotel,he added.

Further investigation is underway.
