The government is creating awareness about digital arrest in various ways.Despite this,doctors,software engineers,and businessmen who have been victims of Digital arrest are losing money.
Currently,a woman techie in Bengaluru has lost about Rs. 2 crore by selling her own flat and site due to this. the incident has come to light.
A female techie who lost two crores,is staying in Bengaluru.She has a 10-year-old son.
Last june techie received a call from a blue Dart courier. A caller posing as an officer threatened to seize a bag linked to her Aadhaar card and that it contained suspicious items.The call from the courier was transferred to another person posing as Mumbai Police officers.
These fraudsters not only threatened to arrest the woman,but also imposed a ‘digital arrest’ by restricting her from leaving the house until the investigation was completed.
They also instructed her to install a specific application on her mobile phone. (Three years of digital arrest, crores of rupees of money fraud ).
Threatening in front of his son
He had threatened that if she did not cooperate with the investigation,she would face the consequences.This would definitely affect her future.
Techie agreed to follow all the orders of the crooks so that her son would not face any problems.
The site and the flat are all gone.
As per the demand of cyber fraudsters, techie sold her two plots in Malur at a low price.She also sold the flat in Vigyan Nagar where she was residing.Along with this, she also took a loan from the bank.
Thus, a total of about Rs.2 crore,including the money received from the sale of the property and the loan money, was transferred to the accounts of the fraudsters.
Police registered a complaint
The cyber fraudsters switched off the phone,saying to contact the nearest police station to recover your money.That’s when the female techie realized that she had been cheated.
The woman techie immediately filed a complaint at the Whitefield Cyber Crime Police Station.The police have registered a complaint and are continuing the investigation.
