In a swift action,the Subramanyapura police arrested a 23-year-old mechanic and accused in a murder case for abducting his 19-year-old CA student and his female friend to marry her forcefully .
Based on the complaint by the parents of the victim,a team of police swung into action and arrested the accused along with three of his associates within 12 hours of the offence and rescued the girl.
Senior officer told reporters that the incident occurred on Wednesday at around 5.15 pm,when the suspect Ranganath,along with his associates,armed with weapons barged into the victim’s house in Simhadri Layout,Chikkallasandra while the girl was having tea with her mother .
The accused overpowered the mother and bundled the girl,a first-year Chartered Accounting (CA) student and sped away in an autorickshaw.
When her mother,a househelp,and her grandmother tried to intervene,the suspects swung the machetes at them,scaring them and slightly injuring them.
Based on the complaint,the Subramanyapura police swung into action,gathered CCTV footage and track down the accused within 12 hours of the offence .
Probe revealed that,Ranganath,was a mechanic and was previously jailed in a murder case.After his release,he began pestering the girl, who was staying near his house, to marry her.A month ago,he had allegedly created a ruckus outside the girl’s house twice, asking her to marry him.
Police have booked Ranganath and his associates Rajesh B,26,Chandan,23,Shreyas,30,and Manjunath,20, under Sections 78 (Stalking), 87 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), 118(1) (Voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 189(2) (Unlawful assembly), 329(4) (Criminal tresspass and house tresspass) and 351(2) (Criminal intimidation) of the BNS .
The accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
