Chicken shop employee held for stealing Rs.47 lakh in gold,cash from relative’s house to fund wedding

The Hebbagodi police have arrested a 27-year-old employee of a chicken shop who burgled the house of his distance relative and made away with jewellery worth ₹47 lakh to gift it his girlfriend.

The accused Shreyas,broke open the house on September 14 when the family was out of station leaving an elderly woman at home.

She had gone to a near-by shop to buy grocery when the accused break into the house and escaped with the valuables within seconds .

The accused had created alibi and even avoided CCTV, since he knew the places where it was not focused .

The accused even accompanied the family members to file a complaint and kept a close watch on the development .

However during the course of investigations,the police become suspicious on his behaviour and picked him up for questioning which led him to confess.

Based on his confession the police have recovered the valuables which he had pawned and bought jewels for his girlfriend in Bannerghatta.

The girlfriend was his classmate married and later separated came in contact with him.

Police subsequently recovered 416 grams of jewellery and Rs.3.46 lakh cash.The suspect has been remanded in judicial custody.
