Bengaluru Student Arrested by Jnanabharathi police After Viral Video Shows Him Wearing ‘Azad Kashmir’ T-Shirt

The Jnanabharathi police on last Friday booked a 20-year-old student after a video of him wearing a T-shirt bearing the ‘Azad Kashmir’symbol went viral on social media,which went viral with viewers demanding legal action.

The student identified as Inayath Ameen,a second-year BA Computer Science student from a private college, was riding pillion on a two wheeler on September 23 .

Ameen,is a resident of Kengunte but originally from Kashmir,was seen riding pillion.

One of the passers-by recorded the video of the sticker on the back of his T-shirt and put it on social media which went viral .

Mohan Kumar,PSI,of social media monitoring cell took cognizance of this incident and registered an FIR charging him under Section 196 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth,residence,language,etc,and doing acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony)of the BNS , for further investigation.

The police team traced the accused and based on the registration number of the bike and issued notice to appear for the questioning. (The accused told the police that one of his relative had gifted him the T-shirt and was wearing it without realising the repercussions),the officer, said.
