A 22-year-old student was killed on the spot after being hit by a train near Banaswadi Railway Station on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Shashi Kumar G,a student of Presidency University,Yelahanka.A native of Veerannapalya,he was residing with his uncle in the city.
According to the Baiyappanahalli Railway Police,a case has been registered under the Unnatural Death Report (UDR).
The track where Shashi Kumar was crossing has a steep curve covered with bushes.He was in a hurry and failed to notice the train which was running at high speed .
Preliminary investigation suggests that the student may not have noticed the approaching train due to the curve and surrounding greenery.
Police also suspect that he was wearing a ear phone and failed to hear the sound of the train,which is being probed.
Based on the complaint filed by loco pilot,the Byappanahalli police are further investigating the case and awaiting post mortem report to rule out foul play.
