Cracking the whip on supporters of gangsters and rowdies the Siddapura police on Saturday registered FIR against eight people including a woman for hailing anti social elements on social media posts hailing them as heroes .
In an effort to contain the growing craze and fan followers on social media,the Siddapura police track down the accused based on their FB account address and opened a history-sheet against them,DCP,South division, Lokesh B Jagalasar, said .
The accused are promoting and hailing two rowdy gangs including Wilson Garden Naga and slained rowdy Mahesh Siddapura,Venting ire and promoting enmity on social media, creating a fear psychosis among the people .
There are many students who were in the fan page , have been summoned questioned and released after getting an undertaking from them,a senior officer, said .
The drive to identify those promoting and hailing gangs and rowdies on social media will be monitored and strict action will be taken against them and it strict warning to them he added.
