“Hulimavu Police Arrest 8 People Who Had Robbed An Arecanut Businessman”
In a swift action,the Hulimavu police foiled a dacoity attempt,recovered intact Rs 1.01 crore and arrested eight suspects,including two murder undertrials.All this happened in a span of 15 minutes, commissioner of police Seemanth Kumar Singh said.
The arrested are Narasimha,34,a car driver from JP Nagar;Jeevan,27,a gym trainer from Begur;Kishore M,30, a labourer from Anekal;Venkataraju,28,a waterboy from Anekal;Chandiran,33,an auto driver from Kalasipalya; Kumar N,36,a security guard from Anekal;Ravi Kiran,33,a security guard from Begur;and Naman,18,a milk seller from Ellenahalli.
On September 27,Hemanth,the complainant from Tumkur,was at Akshay Nagar.A driver,Hemanth, was waiting for Mota Ram,a real estate dealer and his wife, Lakshmi Devi,who would hand over to him Rs.1.01 crore as directed by Hemant’s boss Mohan,an arecanut dealer from Tumkur,in connection with a recent property deal.
After reaching the spot,at around 6 pm,Hemanth called Ram and Laksmi,who reached in 15 minutes.Hemanth met them and informed them of Mohan’s direction,and saw that there were two bags inside the car containing the cash.
Two of the suspects suddenly sprang to the scene and threatened the victims that their vehicles needed to be checked.
The suspects also photographed the victims,and when questioned,allegedly attacked Lakshmi and Hemanth. The trio somehow managed to lock the car and began speeding away.
The suspects tailed them,waylaid them and ensured they took a detour to a deserted area.Hemanth and Ram were made to get down,while Lakshmi sat inside the car with the cash.Hemanth was assaulted again,the officer said.
Shortly,the rest of the suspects gathered at the spot and illegally confined the three victims in a shed for nearly two hours.They further demanded to be given Rs.10 lakh if they were to be let go.
One of the suspects gave Hemanth a mobile phone and asked him to contact his boss Mohan for the Rs.10 lakh. Hemanth somehow alerted Mohan of the incident.
Mohan contacted Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Subramanyapura,who immediately informed Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) (East) Ramesh Banoth.
Next,the Hulimavu police inspector BG Kumaraswamy,was alerted.Coincidentally,the Kumaraswamy was on the next road with his staff conducting an area domination exercise.
They reached the spot and,within 15 minutes,caught all the suspects,rescued the victims and recovered the money.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh has appreciated Joint CP East,Ramesh Banoth,DCP Electronic City Division,Narayan M,ACP,KM Satish,PI,BG Kumaraswamy and his whole team for their excellent work of investigation in detecting the case within 15 minutes and rescuing the victims safely a cash reward of Rs.20,000 announced to the team he added.
