Abhijit Ray, Kolkata,
In a resounding celebration of heritage, intellect, and devotion, the Kalindi Plot Owners’ Association Durga Puja in North Kolkata has once again etched its name in Bengal’s cultural history by winning the Sharad Samman 2025, one of the most prestigious accolades awarded among pujas across 25 districts. Crossing the milestone of 70 glorious years, this puja has remained a beacon of tradition and artistic brilliance. What sets Kalindi apart is not just its age-old legacy, but the prestige of the locality itself—widely known as the “Professors’ Residential Area.” The neighbourhood is home to a distinguished community of eminent professors, senior civil service professionals, top judges of the Kolkata High Court, and respected political leaders, including the Education Minister of West Bengal and the Minister of Fire and Emergency Services, who also serves as the local MLA.
This year’s theme and decoration captivated both judges and visitors alike, blending cultural depth with visual grandeur. The pandal’s intricate artistry and thematic storytelling reflected Bengal’s spiritual test and intellectual pride, making Kalindi Plot a standout among thousands of pujas of Kolkata. As the spirit of Ma Durga’s homecoming continues to unite hearts across Bengal, Kalindi Plot’s triumph is more than just a win—it is a celebration of community, culture, and the enduring power of tradition. With this recognition, Kalindi Plot has once again proven that when heritage meets excellence, the result is nothing short of divine.
