Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar conducted a site inspection this morning in Veerannapalya and the surrounding areas.
During the visit,several civic issues were observed, and the Commissioner issued strict directives to the concerned officials to take immediate corrective action.
*Desilting of Stormwater Drains Ordered:
During the inspection,it was found that the stormwater drains were clogged with silt and waste, impeding water flow.
The Commissioner instructed the concerned authorities to promptly undertake desilting operations to ensure free water flow.
*Illegal Dumping by Private Property Owners:
It came to the Commissioner’s notice that certain property owners,including those with buildings and vacant plots,had illegally dumped soil and debris into nearby drains, disrupting water flow.
He directed officials to clean these drains and warned the owners.If violations persist,legal action will be taken.
*Local Community Interaction:
While interacting with local residents, complaints were raised regarding irregular garbage collection in the area. Treating the issue seriously,the Commissioner instructed officials to ensure daily and efficient door-to-door waste collection, issuing stern warnings to those responsible.
*Night Patrols and Fines for Littering:
To address the issue of public littering, especially on streets, the Commissioner directed officials to deploy marshals to conduct night patrols.
Offenders found dumping waste would be identified, fined on the spot,and subjected to legal proceedings.
*Immediate Repairs to Nagawara Lake Service Road:
The service road adjacent to Nagawara Lake was found to be in poor condition with potholes.To prevent inconvenience to motorists,the Commissioner ordered engineers to take up urgent repair works on this road.
*Ensure Functionality of Mechanical Street Sweepers:
It was noted that mechanical street sweeping machines were not operational in the area.The Commissioner directed that these machines be deployed immediately along Ring Road and their continuous functionality be ensured.
*Clearing of Footpath Encroachments:
Widespread encroachments on footpaths were obstructing pedestrian movement.The Commissioner ordered the immediate removal of all such encroachments to facilitate safe and smooth pedestrian access.
Joint Commissioner Mohammed Naem Momin, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, and other officials were present during the inspection.
*Pothole Repairs to be Accelerated:
Following the inspection,the Commissioner convened a meeting with engineers and contractors at the Yelahanka Mini Vidhana Soudha to review pothole-filling, road repairs, and other development works.
He issued strict instructions to prioritize the filling of potholes on all arterial and sub-arterial roads within the city corporation limits,ensuring quality and speedy completion.
Instructions were also given to expedite all urgent works, including pothole filling, road repairs,white-topping projects, and other developmental activities.
*High-Density Corridor and Service Road Works:
Development works under the High-Density Corridor project for service roads from Goraguntepalya to KR Puram within city corporation limits are to be carried out in coordination with the Police,BESCOM,BWSSB, KPTCL, and other related departments.
Joint operations have been scheduled for September 26 & 27 between *1:00 AM and 5:00 AM.The Commissioner stated that he would personally inspect the works during this time.
*Pothole-Filling Works Underway:
The pothole-filling drive has gained momentum across various areas in the city corporation limits.
On September 22, 2025,potholes were filled at the following locations during nighttime operations, covering a total of 96 potholes:
*V.Nagenahalli Main Road.
* Sultanpalya Main Road.
Additionally,around 80 potholes were filled on main roads in Hebbal, Sarvagnanagar, Pulakeshinagar, and Yelahanka New Town.Pothole-filling works in other roads are currently in progress.
