A case of domestic violence was reported in Lakshmi layout under Begur police station limits,where a 25-year-old man allegedly strangled his mother to death on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Geeta (37),while the accused,Chetan (25),originally from Rajasthan.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder may have been committed against the backdrop of an ongoing family feud.
Senior officer told reporters,the accused was reportedly in love with a girl from Assam and wanted to marry her.
His parents had advised him against it,which often led to arguments at home.In addition,there were disputes over money.
Chetan allegedly strangled Geeta during a heated argument at their residence.The incident is said to have taken place around 11:30 a.m,but police received information only around 3:30 p.m.and rushed to the spot immediately.
The body of Geetha has been shifted to St.John’s Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder.
“A case of murder has been registered,and the accused is currently absconding.”officials confirmed.
