Cyber fraudster poses as telecom official, threatens Sudha Murty over mobile number& obscene video threat

The Cyber crime police are on the massive manhunt for a man who posing as telecom department staff called Rajya Sabha MP,Sudhamurthy and tried to get her personal information .

Based on the complaint by Ganapathy Bopaiah,on behalf of Ms.Sudhamurthy,the police have registered an FIR on Saturday charging the accused under section 66c( identity theft),66D( impersonation) and 84c (attempt to commit offence ) of IT Act .

The incident occurred on September 5,when the accused called Ms.Sudhamurthy number posing as telecom department staff and informed that her number has not been linked with her Aadhar.He tried to get personal information for which it was declined .

The accused was very indecent in his behaviour and threatened to block the service within three hours .

Ms.Murthy was in Delhi at that time on official work , disconnected and checked on true caller which showing as telecom department,the complaint, stated.

The police have traced the caller to Kolkata and a team has been dispatched to track him down.

Police have advised people not to entertain such calls and should not share personal information.
