The Pulakeshinagar police on Saturday arrested a 36-year-old FB user for posting a misleading video with a caption rowdy menace in Bengaluru,which was originally occurred in Uttar Pradesh two years ago .
Based on the complaint filed by Manoj Kumar,PSI,the police on last Saturday registered FIR against the Shahajahan,who runs a FB page,charging her section 353(1)(b) (statements conducting to public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The police later traced Shahajahan,from Konanakunte , arrested her and released on station bail after the due formalities .
The accused later clarified on the FB post apologising for the unverified video,which created furore .
The case was filed suo motu after police found that the video was shared by the user on Facebook.The user suspect had posted an old clip of the incident in Uttar Pradesh and claimed it was in Bengaluru.
She had shared the video with superimposed caption ‘Rowdies running rampant in Bengaluru’on her Facebook account,which was viewed by lakhs of people.
The Police have advised people to be responsible and verify facts before uploading any content on social media .
