Five guest lecturers booked for sexually harassing woman lecturer

The Jnanabharathi police have registered a case against five guest lecturers for allegedly harassing a guest lecturer at the Bangalore University.

Based on a complaint filed by the 30-year-old victim,the police on September 8 registered the case against, Swaroop Kumar,Ramanjaneya BK,Rangaswamy, Jagannatha K and Shivaray charging them under section 75 (sexual harassment),79(insult a woman’s modesty),351(criminal intimidation )and 352 ( intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace) against the accused for further investigation.

The victim in her complaint alleged that Kumar and Ramanjaneya mentally harassed her and made her lose her job by spreading rumours and fake news about her.

She also alleged that she once grabbed Kumar’s phone while he was video recording her to blackmail.

When she questioned them,they allegedly abused her and blackmailed her for sexual favours.The accused also threatened to kill her if she did not respond to their demand.

Unable to bear harassment,the victim approached the police and filed a complaint.
