Meeting Held to Ease Congestion on Outer Ring Road (ORR)-Sarjapur Road Corridor:Maheshwar Rao

To address the congestion along the Outer Ring Road (ORR)-Sarjapur Road corridor,Chief Commissioner, Maheshwar Rao held a high-level meeting today at the IPP Centre in Malleswaram with officials,representatives from ORRCA,WRI India,and tech park stakeholders to review and discuss several proposed interventions.

*A comprehensive study of the area based on geospatial and live traffic analysis was presented by WRI India and ASTRaM teams along with a set of short,medium and long term measures.

*Outer Ring Road:Making improvements to area roads, walkability,enhancing the road network,strengthening bus service were discussed.

*As immediate next steps,East City Corporation will focus on making all connecting roads in the area including GEAR School Road,Motherhood Road Zero Pothole Roads and clear encroachments for seamless vehicle movement.

*East Corporation will expedite work on Iblur Junction  (under Suraksha 75).The skywalk extended for better pedestrian access.

*South City Corporation will focus on making Haraluru Road, Kaikondarahalli,Hosa Roads zero pothole roads, removing encroachments for seamless vehicle movement.

*Bus stops in the area will be made more accessible and clear of encroachments.

*BMTC will extend the MF 1C Feeder Bus from KR Pura Metro Station (Purple Line) to Silk Board Metro Station (Yellow Line).

*BMTC will submit proposals for VGF support needed to run additional services in the area.

*A feasibility study of reviving the Bus Priority Lane at the earliest will be conducted in conjunction with BMRCL and DULT.

*In the medium term,comprehensive development of Sarjapura Road,secondary road networks on either side, junctions,streamlining of the carraigeway will be taken up.

*GBA CC will review the action points on a bi-weekly basis to track progress.

Officials present during the meeting included East City Corporation Commissioner,Ramesh D.S,BMTC Managing Director,Ramachandran,Chief Engineers,CTMO BMTC, DGMO,BMRCL,ACP Planning,Bengaluru Traffic Division, and representatives from private tech parks including Prestige Tech Park and Ecospace.
