Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner, Rajendra Cholan issued a stern warning stating that officials failing to perform their duties efficiently will face suspension.
During his inspection of various areas under the CV Raman Nagar division of the Central City Corporation today, the Commissioner observed several issues including damaged footpaths, pothole-ridden roads, uncollected waste,and ineffective solid waste management.
Taking serious note of these issues, he warned that engineers and officials who fail to act responsibly will be suspended.
At Jeevan Bima Nagar main road, he noticed that vacant land next to the road was filled with waste.
He instructed that notices be issued to the landowners, directing them to maintain cleanliness.He also observed unauthorized sheds built by encroaching upon footpaths and roads,and ordered their immediate removal, along with penalties to be levied on the encroachers.
He directed officials to identify and remove all encroachments from pedestrian pathways.
At HAL 3rd Stage,5th Cross Road he noted the area had not been cleaned and instructed that it be cleaned by evening and a report submitted.
He also directed a full-scale cleaning operation on 9th Main Road in LIC Colony, Sector 11.
*Visit to Dry Waste Collection Center:
In Jeevan Bheema Nagar,it was observed that dry waste from the segregation center was being dumped on the road before being sorted and moved inside the facility.
This has been causing foul odors and obstructing pedestrian and vehicular movement.He instructed that the segregation be carried out in the vacant land adjacent to the facility and necessary arrangements be made, with support from the BSWML.
He also observed that Jeevan Bheema Nagar dry waste collection center, footpaths and roads were being encroached upon for selling nursery pots, causing traffic disruptions.He ordered that this encroachment be cleared immediately and a report submitted.
Later, he visited the dry waste collection unit near the Domlur flyover and directed that cleanliness be maintained at the mini transfer station site.
*Submit List of “Black Spots”:
He instructed that all black spots in the Central City Corporation limits must be eradicated.
A ward-wise list of such black spots should be prepared, and cleanliness campaigns should be undertaken to transform these places into attractive public spaces. Additionally, strict measures must be implemented to prevent further dumping at these locations.
*Clean Up Area in Front of BDA Complex:
Along Old Madras Road,near the BDA Complex in Indiranagar, debris, construction waste,and unusable items were found dumped along the roadside.
He directed the BSWML and ward-level AMC teams to carry out a thorough cleaning of the area.He also instructed that an FIR be filed under the Disaster Management Act against those responsible for dumping waste there.
*Develop a Model Road:
He instructed that the road adjoining the BDA Complex on Old Madras Road be comprehensively developed into a model road.
This includes constructing proper footpaths,a dedicated cycle track, and carrying out other necessary development works.
*Submit List of Dug-Up Roads by BWSSB:
The Commissioner directed officials to prepare a detailed report of roads that have been dug up by the BWSSB and also those requiring manhole repairs in the Central City Corporation limits.
Based on this report, a joint discussion will be held with the BWSSB officials to take corrective actions.
Chief Engineer Suguna,Executive Engineers, officials from the BSWML,and other concerned officials were present during the inspection.
