The Upparpet police have registered an FIR against former BJP MLA from Kuduchi among others for resorting to protest outside designated freedom park in violating of the High Court orders during protest staged at the Freedom Park against the reservation on Wednesday .
Based on the complaint filed by Upparpet Police Sub Inspector,the police charged P Rajeeva,BJP district president,S Harish and others under section 126 (voluntarily obstruction),190 (unlawful assembly)and 285 (danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation,criminalizing acts or omissions that cause harm,obstruction,or danger to the public in these spaces)of BNS and also under various sections of Karnataka police Act for further investigation.
According to the suo motu FIR,on September 10,a permission was granted for a protest between 10 am and 5 pm led by BJP state president BY Vijayendra,who was opposing the state government’s internal reservation policy,strictly restricted to the Freedom Park as per the High Court orders dated March 3, 2022.
At around 10 am,around a group of 5000 party workers led by BJP state president,BY,Vijayendra gathered at the venue and staged a protest .
Meanwhile,P Rajeev,former BJP MLA from Kudachi, violated the HC orders allowing for demonstrations only at the Freedom Park,barged out along with a group of 200 party workers and blocked the road and disrupted regular life near the Skywalk at Seshadri Junction by leading Traffic was disrupted on the busy Sheshadri road and adjacent road for sometime and the police had to struggle to vacate the protestors,allow the traffic flow and restore normalcy .
