A 35-year-old convicted admitted to Kidwai hospital for treatment escaped hoodwinking the security officials on Tuesday.
The accused Chaitanya Kalyani,was convicted in a theft case shifted from Vijapura prison to Parappana Agrahara on health grounds and medical care.
He was suffering from Cancer and admitted to Kidwai hospital for treatment .
The prison personnel who were deployed to keep an eye on him,had gone to collect medical records,when Chaitanya managed to open the handcuff and escaped through the corridors .
Shocked nursing staff tried to stop him while he was walked away through the door and escaped .
The entire act was recorded in CCTV footage which was recovered by the police for further investigation.
The prison staff soon alerted their officers,before raising a complaint with the jurisdictional Siddapura police station.
