Strict Measures issued for Pothole-Free Roads,Black Spot Elimination,and Encroachment-Free Footpaths: Rajendra Cholan

In an effort to enhance public transportation, safety, and basic infrastructure within the limits of the Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner,Rajendra Cholan P has directed officials to initiate swift action for creating pothole-free roads,eliminating black spots,and ensuring footpaths are free from encroachments.

During his visit to the Bengaluru Central City Corporation office today,the Commissioner held discussions with engineers and officials.

He instructed them to take precautionary measures in light of the ongoing rains in the city to prevent any untoward incidents and to take appropriate action regarding potholes and other related civil works.

*Directive for Immediate Pothole Repairs:

The Commissioner directed that separate contractors be appointed for each division under the Bengaluru Central City Corporation and instructed that potholes on major roads be filled on a priority basis.

He further instructed the concerned officials to ensure that no complaints related to potholes remain unresolved on any web or mobile applications used by the public for reporting.

*Development of Model Roads Alongside Priority for Major Roads:

He advised executive engineers to identify roads within the CBD,TenderSure roads,white-topped roads,and high-density corridors for development as model roads.

For each of these roads, dedicated nodal officers will be appointed and held accountable for their maintenance.

Additionally, beautification of metro pillars,roadside landscaping by planting trees,installation of street lights in required locations, and ensuring their proper maintenance were also emphasized.

*Encroachment Clearance on Footpaths and Intensive Sanitation Drives:

The Commissioner instructed officials to identify one road every week for targeted operations.Prior notice must be issued one day in advance to footpath encroachers,followed by clearance drives and intensive cleaning operations.

He also emphasized that these operations should include inspection and regulation of single-use plastics, along with the active involvement of officials from all departments concerned.

Present during the meeting were Joint Commissioner of Bengaluru Central City Corporation Ranganath,Chief Engineers,Suguna and Vijaykumar Haridas,Executive Engineers,and other relevant officials.
