ICJ Steps Up Campaign for Journalist Protection, Meets Karnataka Governor
Bengaluru:International Council for Journalists (ICJ) Director, Dr.Binish Thomas,called on Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Thursday, seeking his support for the proposed Journalist Council Bill aimed at ensuring the safety and security of journalists.
Dr. Thomas, who has been actively campaigning for stronger legal safeguards for media professionals, has met several governors across the country to garner support for the bill.
The proposed legislation, which seeks to provide protection mechanisms and address challenges faced by journalists in the line of duty, is expected to be tabled in Parliament soon.
