Following a theft case of 50 grams of gold valuables stolen on a moving bus on May 25,the Peenya police busted a gang of three women who used to steal valuables from passengers of crowded buses.
The victim,was on her way to Hassan to attend a marriage of her relatives and boarded a bus.The accused wearing Burkha got into the bus along with her associates and later got down after complaining that the bus was crowded .
When the bus reached Nelamangala she realized that 50 grams of gold valuables kept in her handbag is missing .
Based on the complaint,the police swung into action and kept a watch on the burkha clad women travelling in moving buses.
A team of policemen in mufti deployed to keep a watch and gathered information from local intelligence,street vendors and hawkers .
Based on the information,the police on Wednesday detained the accused at a bus stop on 8th milestone in Tumakuru.
A detailed questioning led them to confess to the crime.Based on their confession the police went to their house in labourers colony near Yeshwanthpur railway track and recovered 190 grams of gold valuables worth Rs.16 lakh from them.
Tension gripped for sometime when the police went to locality to recover the gold valuables kept in their houses .
Rumours of police brutality and arresting burkha clad women spread in the area causing panic situation.The police had to pacify the crowd and explain the details of the arrest.
The accused according to the police have been identified as Padma,Anu along with their associate used to wear burkha to conceal their identity and travel in crowded buses to identify people wearing gold and steal them.
With their arrest the police have cracked four theft cases reported in Peenya police station limits in the last few months.The accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody .
City police commissioner,Seemant Kumar Singh, appreciated the police for cracking the case and announced cash reward .
