The Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch raided recently Foreign post office situated in Chamarajpet and recovered synthetic drugs including 10 grams cocaine,10 grams MDMA,30 grams Ecstasy pills and 70 grams of Hydro Ganja worth rupees six lakh .
The drugs are being imported from different countries to the peddlers living in different parts of the city who have been track down and arrested nine foreign nationals including four from Nigeria,one each from Sudan and Congo and two from Ghana who are overstaying in the city and involved in anti social activities .
City police commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the accused have been remanded to detention centre and one of them have been deported and process is on to deport others .
The city police continue its efforts to crack down on the drug menace,organising coordination meeting with other agencies including NCB,FRRO,Education,law, revenue,family and health,commercial tax,agriculture and forest department officials to exchange information and discuss means to tackle the issue effectively.
The city police also stepped up vigil to check the possible entry and exit points of roping in canine squads to check on foreign postal services and warehouse at airport and other oversea courier services .
